Unforgettable Day at the Field Museum
After a terrible stormy day in Chicago,
yesterday was a perfect sunny day to have an exploration time with all my
classmates. Around 1 pm., we left our off-color boring classroom toward beautiful
and amazing city day. Leaving campus is valuable because through experiential
activities we have had an incredible perception and knowledge about the world
surrounded us. We took the red line train and later, we enjoyed walking few
blocks to the Field Museum. At that time, I was extremely curious about a large
number of fascinating exhibits that surprise visitors every day. I just wanted
to see, hear and feel the most wonderful exhibits at the Field Museum that for
me were "Evolving Planet", "DNA Discovery Center", and
"Maori Meeting House, Ruatepupuke II".

Once inside the huge museum, I came across
an enormous dinosaur named Sue who opened my mind to explore the exhibit
"Evolving Planet". In that exhibition, I saw a magnificent large demonstration
of fossils. Everybody's face looked astonished of the size of some skeletons as
the T.Rex for example. While I was looked everything, I had heard loud sounds
of wonder from every child in that room. Kids love dinosaurs like me. I felt
very small in front of the large dinosaurs. Nevertheless, I was wondering how
life on Earth was until they became extinct. Also, that thought brought me
feelings of sadness and concern about some endangered species today.
While I was happy walking
through exhibitions with my young classmates, I saw a section called "DNA
Discovery Center". The bright and blue lights attract attention from all
the visitors. I walked close to the windows of the lab and I had had the opportunity
to see some scientists working inside. I kept the attention of one of them who
saw me. I said "smile" to take a picture of her. She couldn't listen
to me despite the silence in the place, but I think she saw my face. Immediately
she made spontaneous big smile. That's surprise me! I have a huge admiration of
people like she who work investigated things that could help to understand the
life in our planet. I felt happy for one second when she smiled to me because I
changed the day of someone with something very simple. I believe that smiling
is contagious.
The last and the most
significant exhibit was "Maori Meeting House, Ruatepupuke II". At the
first time I saw it, I knew that the long wooden house had saved something extraordinary
for me. I had to take out my shoes like everybody else. I didn't hesitate to do
it because I wanted to see the house from inside. Once inside, I met the
adorable precious old lady call Gloria. I heard her sweet and unhurried voice
telling about every detail of the house. She showed and explained to us that
each carved face symbolize a specific ancestor of the Maori people, the
original natives of New Zeland. She told us that Ruatepupuke is the name of an
ancestor of the family that built the house. We talked for long time inside of
the house. I felt so blessed having this interesting conversation with Gloria.
I had the opportunity to express myself with her. I told her that she is doing
a wonderful work at the museum and I encouraged her to keep doing it. She
listened to me with tear in her eyes. Meet Gloria is something that I never
going to forget.

Visiting the Field Museum
was an extraordinary and enjoyable experience. I've never thought that it going
to be so much fun. Nevertheless, I felt very happy and blessed sharing this
time with my classmates. I realized that the most wonderful exhibit it was
where I kept in touch with people. I learned that we always need from other
persons. Working with my classmate, exchanging a smile, or talking with
someone, are things that fill my heart with happiness. Maybe, I'm very
emotional person because I have some wrinkles or because of my high value of
the simple things that I live each day of my life. I try to see all the things
I can. I try to hear the most beautiful sounds that my ears could accept. I try
to feel all the good emotions that people gift me. Try to do the same. After
this amazing day at the museum, I advise you to visit it. Make new friends like
Gloria into the wooden house. I promise you that it’s something that could touch your soul and heart.
